Kim Foodman Design is a boutique architectural and interior design firm in the northern Atlanta area. Our role is to collaborate closely with the architect, contractor, and ownership team throughout every stage of the design process. Our focus is on elevating each space through thoughtful aesthetic and functional design decisions. We translate client vision and requirements into a cohesive design concept—ensuring the final result is efficient, functional, visually compelling, and memorable. Whether the goal is to attract customers in a commercial environment or to enhance daily living in a residence, our spaces are designed to reflect luxury, comfort, and a sense of personal service. Fees are typically hourly, and clients may choose the level of service best suited to their project needs.

Design Development & Planning

Schematic Design, Space Planning & Layout – Collaborate with architects and ownership to optimize layouts, improve traffic flow, maximize visibility, and enrich the overall experience. Gain a clear understanding of client goals, vision, and budget.
Architectural Programming – Document the project’s functional requirements and work with ownership and architects to ensure these needs are clearly defined and seamlessly integrated into design drawings and material/finish selections. Selections are made with careful attention to functionality, detail, specifications, and pricing.
Coordination – Partner with architects, contractors, and consultants to ensure a cohesive, efficient, and buildable design plan.

Budget & Timeline Management

Budget Planning – Develop a comprehensive design budget and procurement schedule for all design elements.
Timeline Oversight – Track milestones, manage delivery schedules, and monitor progress to ensure deadlines are achieved.

Material & Finish Selections

Color Palette & Paint – Curate palettes that establish the tone and ambiance of the space.
Materials & Finishes – Select flooring, wallcoverings, cabinetry (custom or premade), and other key finish details.
Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E) – Provide selections that balance function, style, and durability.
Artwork Selection –Thoughtfully source artwork that complements the overall design, reinforces the project’s theme, and enhances the ambiance—adding cohesion, personality, and distinction to the finished space.
Merchandising & Display Areas (Commercial) – Design and source fixtures that highlight products and encourage customer engagement.
Sensory Enhancements – Integrate audio, lighting, plants, water elements and other experiential features to enrich the atmosphere.
ADA Integration – Ensure accessibility is thoughtfully and seamlessly incorporated into the design.

Lighting & Signage

Lighting Consultation – Advise on placement and selection of fixtures, recessing lighting including ambient, mood, storefront, and evening lighting.
Signage Strategy – Guide exterior and interior signage, including branding, wayfinding, and promotional elements, ensuring harmony with overall design identity.

Project Execution & Styling

On-Site & Project Management – Conduct site visits, monitor quality, and oversee delivery and installation of FF&E.
Supplier & Contractor Coordination – Maintain clear communication to ensure smooth execution.
Final Styling – Complete the space with artwork, accessories, greenery, and finishing touches for a cohesive ambiance.
Client Walkthrough & Punch List – Lead final walkthroughs to ensure satisfaction and resolve outstanding details.
